Major Description
The predecessor of the International Economics and Trade, Industrial and Foreign Trade, was established in 1987, one of the long-established majors. After more than 30 years of development, the major has formed a Master's degree in Applied Economics as well as systematic and complete talent training system, including a Doctorate degree of Applied Economics. In 2008, in order to comply with the development of economic globalization, combined with the needs of China's foreign-oriented economic development, on the basis of the original international economic and trade majors, the first English teaching experimental major for international economy and trade was established in our schools. After more than ten years of efforts we have established a faculty team with a high level of teaching and international experience, while embraced an international cooperation platform including international universities such as the University of California, Berkeley, Munich University of Technology, etc., as well as formed a sturdy international talents management system.
Faculty
The major is based on the first-level discipline of Applied Economics (including Master's degree and Doctoral degree) and the faculty of the School of Management and Economics at Beijing Institute of Technology. In addition, there are 32 professional teachers, including 6 professors, 2 winners of the National Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholars, 1 National Outstanding Youth Fund winner, 2 young Changjiang scholars, 17 associate professors, and more than 90% of doctoral teachers. More than 80% of the teachers have overseas study experience. The major also employs professors from well-known universities such as the United States and Germany, and senior managers with rich experience in domestic and foreign companies as part-time professors.
Scientific Research
As a research-based college, the School of Management and Economics values scientific research of our professors and encourages them to combine the latest research results with talents development. In recent years, the professors of this major have carried out researches in the fields of international trade and policy, cross-border investment and strategy, industrial economy and policy, energy economy and policy, and have achieved a series of remarkable achievements. They have obtained an honor of excellent course from the Ministry of Education in China; hosted more than 80 items including the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Social Science Fund Project, the National Major Special Project, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and Beijing Municipality. More than 50 papers have been published in more than 500 major academic journals at home and abroad, including more than 150 SCI/SSCI papers, which have important influence all over the world.

Our college has Beijing Economic and Social Sustainable Development Research Base, Energy and Environmental Policy Research Center, Econometric Methods and Data Analysis and Research Center, Beijing Management and Economic Demonstration Teaching Center, Financial Laboratory, as well as Behavior and Decision Lab. platform.

International Cooperation Platform
In order to develop internationalized talents, the College has established a dual degree program in collaboration with Bayreuth University, meanwhile established international cooperation platforms with internationally renowned universities such as the University of California, Berkeley, San Diego, and the Industrial University of Munich, Germany., University of Bayreuth, the Nantes Business School in France, and the University of Reading in the United Kingdom.
