On May 31st, the School of Management and Economics held a successful book sharing meeting online. This sharing meeting invited Associate Professor Zhang Lingxiang of the school to give a special topic titled "Mostly Harmless Econometrics -Interpretation from an Experimental Perspective ". More than 260 people, including Party Secretary Yan Zhijun and teachers and students, participated in the sharing meeting. The sharing meeting was hosted by Jane Linqiang, Director of the school general office.
Prof. Zhang Lingxiang introduced the main content of Mostly Harmless Econometrics, random experiment, tool variables and regression, etc., and illustrated his own reading experience from seven experimental perspective: random experiment, paper experiment, artificial experiment, thought experiment, natural experiment, approximate experiment, empirical specification.
The participating teachers and students had in-depth exchanges and discussions on econometrics, standard error and Regression Discontinuity.
Zhang Lingxiang Personal Profile:
Associate professor and doctoral supervisor, School of Management and Economics, Beijing Institute of Technology. He received a PhD in quantitative economics from Nankai University, master in statistics and bachelor in economics from Xi'an Jiaotong University. Mainly engaged in econometrics theory, statistics and macro measurement application research. In the past five years, he has presided over more than 10 projects, including the National Social Science Fund and the Humanities and Social Science Fund of the Ministry of Education. He has published more than 20 academic papers in Macroeconomic Dynamics, Economics Letters, Economic Modelling, Economic research, Quantitative economic technology and economic research. In 2012, he was selected into the "Outstanding Youth Funding Program of Beijing Institute of Technology", and in 2013, he won the "National Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Nomination Award". In 2015, he was awarded the title of "Advanced Individual in Three Education" of Beijing Institute of Technology.
