Results of the 2023 American College Students Mathematical Modeling and Interdisciplinary Modeling Competition (MCM & ICM) were announced.A mathematical modeling team guided by associate professor Zhang Yuli —— 2019 undergraduate students Zhang Ying (School of Management and Economics), 2020 undergraduate Wang Chenghan (School of Management and Economics) and Zhang ChuXiao (Teli School) won the highest prize ——Outstanding Winners from more than 20000 teams in the world. Based on the team's outstanding performance in mathematical modeling, The team was awarded International COMAP Scholarship Award by the Consortium for Mathematics and Its Applications (only four teams worldwide this year was awarded the COMAP scholarship, $10,000 for each).At the same time, the team received INFORMS Award from the American Institute of Operations and Management (only one team for each topic, awarded for its innovation in modeling and analysis). This is the first time that the student team guided by the teachers of our school won the grand prize of the American competition, and also the first time that our school won the International COMAP Scholarship Award, breaking the record of the highest award.
